WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUTHERLAND LODGE GP SURGERY IN CHELMSFORD?

A previously 'Outstanding' GP Surgery in Essex has been put into special measures after being privatised by Virgin Care and falling to an official rating of  'inadequate' in just two years, despite an increase in funding. This is just one disastrous example of how this profit orientated company are failing to prioritise patient care. Where Virgin Care is operating there have been numerous concerns regarding quality of care.

TAX AVOIDANCE?

Virgin Care Ltd pay no corporation tax from annual profits of £8 million from NHS contracts of a 200 million turnover.

WHO VOTED FOR THIS?

British voters are consistently in favour of a publicly run National Health Service. No one voted for this - there is no mandate for Virgin Care to be profiteering from our NHS.

ABUSE OF POWER?

Jeremy Hunt has personally pushed through a £650 million Virgin hospital deal in Surrey, demonstrating that his interests lie in the corporate take over of our health service.

This extreme action by Virgin is another example of private business riding roughshod over what should be a public service catering for our public health. When profit becomes the motive patient care and public wellbeing go out the window.
